Today i went in to my internship and there was only one patient for the whole 2 hours. This patient came in and he was in his mid 20s and had a major ear infection with flu symptoms. He was about 5'7 and weighed 258Lb's. His right ear was itchy and felt as if it had water in it. When we looked inside his ear it was swollen and looked as if he had been scratching the inside of it, later to find out he had been excessively scratching the inside of his right ear with pens at work and school. We prescribed him an anti-biotic and drops for his ear and flu-like symptoms and sent them to the pharmacy, along with sending him on his way home. beside him we didn't have anyone else come in but i did research and started my final presentation.

BORROW HOURS FROM 8/24/24
Day 7
10/19/24
The following patient was a young man in his early 20s maybe 22- 25 having severe stomach pain and constipation. When he walked in he immediately went to the bathroom and when he came out she told us he had released some stool. We examined in abdominal area and applied pressure, he winced in pain and it was as if he couldn't breath from The pain. We then did an X-ray but there was nothing there that was unusual. We came to the conclusion that he had a high chance of a kidney stone but because of the amount of pain and pressure he was feeling in him abdomen we sent him to the hospital for further testing. The last patient we examined was from the ages 30-35 and came in with a positive covid test, she had had a positive test three weeks prior and then gave it to her kids then she tested negative and two days later tested positive again catching back from her kids. She had already taken Paxlovid and we can't give her another round of it because it could cause side affects and it would do much so we gave her cough medicine and Zofran for nausea.
Day 6
10/14/24
A young boy around the ages of 12-15, he was having stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, and the occasional slight dizziness. we assessed the situation and got some back story, he had gone out of the country and ate foods that he wasn't to so his stomach reacted bad, because of that he now is having acid reflux and has to go on a BRAT diet. The following patient had morning sickness and missed her last period, we gave her a pregnancy test and it came back positive. We made sure everything was ok and did her vitals and sent her home with ways to naturally relieve nausea so she wouldn't have to take medication while pregnant. I ended the day with my niece coming in the back and saying hi to everyone then we went home.
Day 5
10/6/24
today I worked with a nurse and was doing admissions learning how to put medical information into the computers. We saw a older man late 30s maybe, he was complaining of having the feeling of something stuck in the right side of his throat. We examined his throat, he didn't seem to have anything in his throat at first but we took a second look and he has an abscess growing on the right side of his throat we immediately made his gargle a salt water solution to help with infection. We then prescribed him an antibiotic mouth wash. I study up on some autoimmune disorders and ask my mentor some questions and then pack up to go home i had to leave at exactly 2 hours because my mentor had a family emergency. I really hope her family is okay.
Day 4
10/1/24
when i came in there was a new mentor she was strict kind of rude but i managed, i only got to see one patient that day and she had a massive 3rd degree burn on her left calf. she was in her late 20s and claimed that she burned it by getting off her boyfriends motorcycle on the wrong side. We numbed her leg with a lidocaine shot and we scraped the top layer of infection off the burn. It was painless for her and we prescribed her so antibiotics and a cream to put on the burn to keep it from getting infected again.
Day 3
9/14/2024
when I walked in it was different, Janice wasn't there, I told the girl in the front I was with the mentor program and a PA (physician assistant) came to the front and gave me the number for Cassandra, who is the person who sets up my mentorship in that clinic, so for the day I was with a PA and for two whole hours I only saw one patient. The patient was a middle-aged female ages 30-35, who came in with an ingrown hair on her upper groined area. The PA examined the area and then went along to extract the hair from the swollen red bubble, the hair had to have been about 2 inches long and it had a tiny little puss bubble at the end of it. I thought this was so cool. then the rest of the day we talked about college and made coffee and warm tea
Day 2
9/07/2024
I was with my niece before I came in and she loves anything medicine and medical, when I walk into the clinic I Immediately told the nurses who I was and they smiled and let me back. Janice was working on her paperwork so I sat down and got my hours out, I set the hours paper to the side where she could see them and told her to just do then when she had the time. After we did some paper work she finally got some patients so we went back and she ask permission for me to come in. When I walked into the clinic room there was a older lady around 25-30, she came in with a sore throat and no voice, we tested for covid and strep, covid came back negative but strep was positive. Her ear drums were swollen and her tonsils we enlarged. we sent her some antibiotics and told her to drink warm tea with honey, we also told her to use cough drops to bring down the swelling.
DAY 1
9/06/2024
Day one i walked in and every one was so welcoming, when I got to the back I immediately got my stuff out and started showing my mentor my notes then I had her sign my hours, and finally we were able to see some patients. The first patient i saw was a female, ages 13-16 with a fungal yeast infection under her arms. At first we thought it was ring worm but there was no ring around the wounds and there was minimal amount of kerion on infected areas. We later found out what the young lady did in her daily routine, she was a swimmer. When a swimmer sweats and the chlorine does get fully washed off it can cause yeast like bump and wound in the folds of you body like under your arms and in the groin area. We sent her home with some fungal cream and better ideas on how to correctly wash the folds of your body.
